Chandler-Conrad Department Store Building is built.

Designed in the Greek Revival style, it is located at 17-29 Winter Street. Established in 1810, Chandler & Company is reputed to sell the first “ready-to- wear” dress in Boston. It subsequently merges with Conrad & Company in 1957. The store closes in the 1970s.
